Cathy Poe 1950 ~ 2014

Cathy Jean Poe, beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt passed away August 3, 2014. She was 63 years young.

She grew up in Salt Lake City where she graduated from East High School. After high school she began her career in insurance where she eventually met her future husband to whom she was married 35 years. She moved with him to Seattle, WA and worked for several insurance companies, eventually becoming branch manager, regional manager, and vice president. Cathy had many friends in the insurance industry, particularly in Oregon and Washington.

She and her husband owned a home in Sunriver, OR for 10 years, prior to building their home and moving to Bend, OR in 2005 where she was marketing manager of a local insurance agency until retiring. Cathy and a good friend then turned a hobby of designing and making unique jewelry into KC Jewelry Creations. Cathy's activities included biking, hiking, aerobics, and recently pickleball, as well as attending concerts, plays and her book club. She volunteered at St. Charles Hospital for many years, most of them in the gift shop. Most of all she enjoyed being with her many friends having great wines and food and, supporting the Democratic Party.

Cathy is survived by her husband John; sons John and Richard, daughter Jill; grandchildren Dante, Miles, and Phoebe; brothers Dr. Richard Rytting and Dr. James Rytting and sister Linda Goodman and many nieces and nephews; and her favorite companion, Molly, her West Highland White Terrier. She will be sorely missed and we love her.

A memorial service hosted by Roger and Jennifer Simmons-Graves will be held Sunday, September 21st from 4 to 8pm at their home, 810 Eaglepointe Drive, North Salt Lake, 801-915-6933. Published in Salt Lake Tribune on Aug. 10, 2014
